Workshops were successful

Venue: Secondary school (Jirásek's villa), Pod Táborem 17, Prague 9, resp. Open garden of the Partnership Foundation , Údolní 33, Brno

Both workshops started with a lecture General introduction to the ecology of plant invasions, which was devoted to non-native species and their impact on the environment. The presentation of the Grow safely – do not support invasive plant species project was also included, including a presentation of the source of funding. This was followed by lectures on Species survival and Dynamics of community of ornamental perennial beds. In Prague, the audience also listened to a lecture on the use of regionally native seed in the restoration of Prague meadows. Here, the participants learned information about planing ornamental plants and the possibilities of replacing them with alternative species. In Brno, those interested took part in an excursion to the garden of the Partnership Foundation and green roofs.
The lectures were followed by a discussion regarding the planning of species from ornamental perennial beds and the possibility of replacing them with safer alternatives.
